Everyone knows that the toughest ticket to get in NYC each summer is to the FREE performances the Public Theater stages plays by Shakespeare and others at the outdoor Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
Tickets for that day’s performance are handed out at 1 p.m. to those who line up, starting as early as 6 a.m. But here are two NYC insider ways to get these hard-to-get tickets from NYCOTC guest expert Grace Lichtenstein —
- For the disabled and those over 65 (proof of age required), there’s a separate, seated line for tickets on specified benches in front of the theater box office. Maximum 2 tickets per person.
- Avoid the ticket line entirely by signing up for the daily virtual ticket lottery. Register online — click here to register — and enter after midnight of the day you want to attend. Log in the afternoon of the performance to see if you’ve been chosen.
