Beginning next Friday, March 29th, New York City becomes the center of the automotive universe for the 10-day run of the 2013 New York International Automobile Show. As always, this year features dozens of new model intros ranging from fuel efficient and affordable to six-figure vroomers we can only dream about and drool over. This week we are previewing the all-new models you can see. Here are today’s half-dozen:
Audi SQ5: The new Audi SQ5 is powered by a supercharged, 354 horsepower, 3.0 liter V6 engine that helps it sprint from zero to 0-62 mph in 5.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155 mph. An eight-speed tiptronic and Audi’s famous quattro permanent all-wheel drive keep the SQ5 firmly to the road.
Fiat 500L: The all-new Fiat 500L is a longer and more powerful version of the popular Italian import, with more than 42 percent more interior space for five, engaging driving dynamics, and Fiat’s award-winning 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine with a best-in-class 160 horsepower and a six-speed transmission.
Mitsubishi Outlander: The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander compact crossover is powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, and is one of the most fuel-efficient CUVs, with standard 7-passenger seating available. The new streamlined front end design adds fuel efficiency.
Toyota RAV4: Toyota’s fourth-generation RAV4 offers a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine, new six-speed transmission, class-leading cargo capacity, and eight standard airbags. It is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which produces 176 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 172 ft. lbs. of torque at 4,100 rpm. The current four-speed automatic is being replaced by a six-speed with sequential shift.
Mazda6 Diesel: The redesigned mid-size sedan is the first Mazda diesel in North America, offering both a high amount of torque andcleaner combustion. The SKYACTIV-D 2.2L is 10 percent lighter than the current MZR 2.2-liter diesel engine sold in other global markets and 20 percent more fuel efficient. For you gearheads, the 2014 Mazda6 is also the first production vehicle to feature Mazda’s capacitor-based brake energy regeneration system called i-ELOOP.
Jaguar F-Type: The all-new two-seat F-Type convertible is a true Jaguar high-performance sports car, with a lightweight aluminum frame an three engine choices – the new Jaguar supercharged 3-liter V6 engine in either 340 or 380 horsepower outputs and a humongous 495 horsepower hp 5-liter supercharged V8. All engines drive through an eight-speed ‘Quickshift’ transmission with racetrack-style steering wheel-mounted paddles.
