Newark Airport AirTran shutdown

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

Newark Airport AirTran shutdownTravel alert: If you are flying in or out of Newark Airport between May 1 and July 15, 2014, be aware that the cheap and popular AirTran service will be shut down for repair, so allow extra time to get two and from the airport.

Even if you don’t usually take AirTran, you should still allow extra time because there will be more vans, busses and taxis crowding the airport terminal roadways.

Instead, there will be bus service will also be available between the airport and Newark Penn Station for passengers taking NJTransit to and from Manhattan.  There also will be shuttle busses between the airport and the airports parking lots, garages and rental car areas.

thumbs down www.nyconthecheap.comShame on you, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, for scheduling this shut-down during the busy summer tourist season. NYC is the most-visited city in North America, and many of those visitors travel in and out of EWR.  You had three months between the Superbowl XLVIII and now to make the repairs, or you should have waited until Labor Day.
