The New York Auto Show returns in April with more than 1,000 cars, SUVs and trucks, including first looks at 2020 models, and world debuts of new models from brands including Lincoln, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac.
The 2019 New York Auto Show is at the Javits Convention Center April 19-28.
Here are some of the family-friendly vehicles to check out, in alphabetical order, because that’s the only fair way.
There are no prices in this preview report, but they’ll be posted at the vehicle displays at the auto show.
This brand-new performance sedan makes its debut at the auto show, a stylish and powerful addition to the Cadillac line-up.
The Cadillac CT5 features a standard 2.0L Turbo and available 3.0L Twin-Turbo engine with unique sound calibrations, each paired to a standard 10-speed automatic transmission offering nearly imperceptible shifts.
The driver-centric cockpit blends high tech and high touch for an exceptional blend of control tactility. The new sedan will be offered in Luxury and Sport models, giving customers more choices in appearance and ride character.
It’s the latest new model from Cadillac. Last year, it introduced the XT4 Crossover, which NYCOTC Editor Evelyn Kanter got to test drive in Seattle, because I’m also an automotive journalist.
The New York International Automobile Show will be the North American introduction for the 2020 Jaguar XE Sport Sedan.
The newly refreshed model features an enhanced exterior design; all-new luxurious interior featuring new materials and layout; new advanced infotainment and drivers’ assistance technologies; and a simplified model line-up. The new model comes with two advanced turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engines with outputs of 247-horsepower and 296-horsepower, delivering acceleration from 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds. Jaguar XE features a SportShift gear selector and JaguarDrive Control ‘toggle’ switch inspired by the legendary F-TYPE, which eliminates the rotary control gear selector.
The interior features Jaguar’s famous attention to detail, and includes new premium materials and finishes. New optional InControl Touch™ Pro Duo infotainment system and 12.3-inch interactive driver display provide a customizable, intuitive and responsive controls, which the auto industry is now calling “human-machine interface (HMI)”.
The Lincoln Motor Company is introducing the brand new Lincoln Corsair compact crossover making its world debut at the show, so this is the first time anybody anywhere gets to see this new SUV. It’s still secret, which is why the only image is a teaser.
With the continued strength of Lincoln’s SUVs–from the record-breaking sales of Navigator, strong customer response to the 2019 Nautilus and the arrival of the all-new Aviator in the summer–the introduction of Corsair will further enhance Lincoln’s lineup.
The Corsair is being introduced at the Media Preview Days before the NY International Auto Show opens to the public.
NYCOTC Publisher/Editor Evelyn Kanter is attending the Media Preview days, because I’m also a credentialed automotive journalist who has been writing about the best buys and safest rides for more years than I care to admit.
