New Year’s Eve scam alert

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

new year's eve times square

Scam Alert: If you are planning to join the rest of the world in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, be warned about buying bogus Multiple Venue/Pay-One-Price/All Access passes. The scam is that you might not be able to get past NYPD security lines to get to one or more of the events on the party list, even all of them.

According to the Times Square Alliance, in years past, such pass holders were refused access beyond police check points, leaving the holder frustrated and without a place to go. With heightened security this year because of recent terrorist attacks in Paris and California, it is reasonable to assume that the NYC police will take the same stance this year.

The Times Square Alliance also warns about scalpers selling such passes on the street for exorbitant prices, including counterfeit passes.

For a list of parties hosted by Times Square businesses visit the Alliance web site.

Toast the arrival of 2016 with a drink from the five-hour open bar at one of Union Square’s hottest clubs, and watch the big ball drop from Times Square on 20 big-screen HDTVs in warm and cozy comfort instead of shivering out on the street. Get $10 discount tickets (value $20) for  admission to the party at SideBAR including one complimentary drink.

Make your wishes part of the confetti that drops on New Year’s Eve revelers in Times Square.
