Celebrate National Ice Cream Day in NYC this weekend with an ice cream fair at the Hester Street Fair. On both July 19 and 20, there’s a special line-up of more than a dozen local NYC vendors offering small-batch, made in NYC flavors and treats. There’s also free ice cream toppings, games and contests including the chance to test your tastebuds in a blind test to see if your ice cream palette is good enough to taste the difference between generic store bought and high quality small-batch artisan brands.
Just so you know, in 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.
Hester Street Fair is every weekend through mid-October at the corner of Hester and Essex. Closest subway stops are the F to East Broadway or Delancey, or the J, M. Z to Delancey. Website.
