Night at the Museum Sleepovers 2018

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

nyc museum sleepovers

Book tickets now for the popular Night at the Museum sleepover for kids at the American Museum of Natural History for dates through December 2018, because places sell out.

There’s also a sleepover for adults only – this weekend, June 22.  The next sleepover for kids is June 30.

The AMNH sleepover is the real version of the movie series starring Ben Stiller, including the Night at the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb with the late, great Robin Williams in one of his final roles, as Teddy Roosevelt.

At the AMNH sleepover, participants head out with flashlights in search of adventure, which could mean a face-to-face meeting with a 65-million-year-old T. rex in the Hall of Dinosaurs, or hanging out with the butterflies.

Kids get to climb into their sleeping bags beneath the 94-foot-long blue whale, next to the Alaskan brown bear, or at the base of a volcanic formation.

The overnight adventure costs $150 per person and includes an IMAX film, evening snack and light breakfast, and guided tour of the museum with flashlights.

Check in at 5:45 p.m on Saturday evening, and check out is at 9 a.m. next morning.

The grown-up version is more sophisticated.  It includes live music and a buffet dinner with wine and beer.  Click here for details

Register on the AMNH sleepover website, including for the list of what participants need to bring, such as a sleeping bag, pillow and flashlight.

Space is limited, so make your reservation ASAP. Email sleepovers@amnh.org with “Notification List” in the subject line.

Is it worth the money?  Here’s a review of the slumber party in the New York Times.

The AMNH sleepover was one of several in a recent round-up of best museum sleepovers in USA Today

There also are sleepovers for kids at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in NYC.
