Mummenschanz returns to NYC for its annual holiday performances. This is a delightfully zany group, performing magic tricks and more in pantomime. The only sound in the theater is the audience laughing. Mummenschanz has inspired Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil and other entertainers, and has been enchanting audiences since the 1970s, when I first saw them perform in New York City and fell in love with them.
What these talented performers do with cardboard boxes, toilet paper, partially deflated beach balls and string is pure theater magic for kids and the young at heart.
Mummenschanz is appearing Nov. 20 to 30 only, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU. Tickets start at $45 with discounts for NYU students.
The website also has some great video of Mummenschanz performing.
Check the NYC on the Cheap Holiday Events Page for more theater, holiday markets, winter festivals and more.
