Former First Lady Michelle Obama is launching a kid-centric cooking show on Netflix, introducing young people to healthy food from around the world.
Waffles + Mochi is named for the two puppets who who have become bored with a diet of ice and dream of becoming chefs, who Mrs. Obama introduces to new possibilities.
The show will chronicle their journey as they try to become chefs.
Guided by her and by their magical flying shopping trolley, the puppets travel the world to try an array of home-cooked food.
Mrs. Obama is both star and an executive producer of “Waffles + Mochi,”and stars as a supermarket owner. You could think of this show as a kind of Sesame Street of food.
The show launches for streaming on March 16, with at least ten episodes planned.
In a statement, Mrs. Obama said, “I only wish Waffles + Mochi had been around when my daughters were growing up, because it’s the kind of programme that’s fun to watch together as a family, and gives parents the peace of mind to know that their little ones are learning something, too.”
