Sorry, kids, Santa is really busy this year, and if you want to meet him at Macy’s Santaland in the flagship Herald Square store, you’ll have to make an appointment. No more walk-ins or walk-ups.
Reservations open at noon today, Nov. 20, to meet Santa between Nov. 24th and Dec. 24th, sit on his lap and tell him whether you’ve been naughty or nice and your wish list for Christmas 2017.
Macy’s says Santa’s a popular guy, so wait times to meet him have been quite long in recent years, especially on busiest days, such as weekends.
The new reservation system is designed to minimize this by scheduling visitors to join the line at a time their parents or grandparents choose, so – according to Macy’s – everybody will have the the best possible holiday experience.
Not to mention that Macy’s gets your email address for sales and marketing purposes.
So, this year, Santaland Herald Square is by reservation only. Click here to make your reservation.
You’ll have to choose a preselected time slot, from 30 minutes to 5 days in advance, which will be convenient for some families and not for others.
Macy’s is instituting this reservations only policy at its flagship Herald Square store only.
There hasn’t been a peep from Macy’s or the Elves about a similar reservations-only policy at other store locations in New York City or around the country.
Still, it’s a good idea to make a reservation, including from your mobile phone while you are waiting on line.
