The annual Make Music New York festival seeks musicians to participate in the city-wide event on June 21st, to take their music to the streets, sidewalks, parks and gardens. Last year, more than 1,000 musicians participated at hundreds of NYC locations, entertaining many thousands of onlookers, including children doing happy dances to the music and grown-ups joining in impromptu jam sessions.
Musicians of any age and any musical persuasion – from hip hop to opera, Latin jazz to punk rock – are invited to register for Make Music New York.
Registration is open through Friday, April 29, 2016, and includes claiming your Make Music NY location. Don’t wait any longer, since the best locations, including Times Square and Central Park, get snapped up quickly.
Register here. Once you register, Make Music New York will coordinate your concert with others in the neighborhood, secure all necessary permits and promote your event through various media in the city, including here on NYC on the Cheap.
If you have any questions, email help@makemusicny.org.
If you are not a musician, save the date – June 21, the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year- for Make Music New York 2016, because it’s always a fun day in NYC.
There’s also a Make Music NY event on the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, in December.
