Celebrate the Fourth of July with the 37th Annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks. There are four fireworks barges spaced in the river every few blocks between 23rd St. and 42nd St. The fireworks can be seen from any spot with an unobstructed view of the sky above the Hudson River, including from the West Side Highway, which will be closed to cars between 22nd Street and 59th Street at 2 p.m.
There is no fireworks barge at the Statue of Liberty, so there’s no viewing site from either Battery Park or Brooklyn Heights. Hudson River piers also are locked off, except for limited VIP access to Pier 84 at 44th Street, alongside the Intrepid. Also off limits is the Hudson River Park Bike Path between Battery Park to 59th Street, and the Riverside Park promenade between Houston and 59th Streets. Click here for the Macy’s website map of the barge locations and access points.
This year’s extravaganza features more than 40,000 fireworks synchronized to a 25-minute music score of old and new favorites curated by Usher, and live performances by Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
