Learn cross country skiing or snoweshoing FREE on the 19th annual Winter Trails day, on January 11, 2014. The free program is offered at more than 1,000 trail centers throughout the USA and Canada, including at centers close to NYC, in the Catskills, in Vermont, and in New Jersey, at the High Point Cross-Country Center in Sussex.
Check the Winter Trails website for an event location you like, complete the online registration, and remember to take a printed copy with you to get outfitted with free equipment rental and free instruction.
Winter Trails locations include resorts that offer downhill Alpine skiing and snowboarding, Nordic centers, state parks, National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service land. Most participating locations offer snowshoeing andcross country skiing. Some locations only offer snowshoeing.
