Unlike the world-famous Tour de France, the seventh annual Tour de Brooklyn is a one-day event that’s more like a gathering of biking enthusiasts than a high-powered race. And it’s FREE, so you don’t need to find a corporate sponsor. This is an 18-mile tour through some of the more scenic parts of Brooklyn, including a brief stop at Canarsie Pier. The Tour de Brooklyn begins at North 12th St. and Union Avenue, at 8 a.m. Sunday, and you ride rain or shine. Remember to pack both sunscreen and a poncho, and your water bottle. Registration is required, and if you don’t want to ride, you can volunteer.
