My son the college student told me about this great deal — Join Amazon Student for free and get the free shipping benefits of Amazon Prime for free. Then I did some checking, and there’s a similar free shipping deal if you join join Amazon Mom for free. These are really good deals from Amazon, because you don’t have to be a student, mom, dad, grammie or caregiver to join either program to get free shipping. Essentially, they are open to anybody who signs up. Amazon Prime offers two-day free shipping and other perks, and costs $79 a year for unlimited free two-day shipping. But why pay $79 if you can get it for free?
Amazon Student offers free shipping for one year on textbooks and anything else Amazon sells. Just enter your school and major, but since Amazon does not ask for a student ID number, basically, this is open to anybody. Ditto Amazon Mom — which also offers 30% discounts on diapers, wipes and such, and free shipping on anything you buy, from the Amazon Baby Store or not. Since it’s optional to provide information about the children in your life you are buying things for, Amazon Mom also is open to anybody. If you are already an Amazon Prime member and paying the $79 annual fee, be sure to join Amazon Mom and get a refund on the unused portion of your Amazon Prime membership.
