See films about the Israeli and Palestinian experience, by Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers, at the 8th annual Other Israel Film festival in Manhattan, through Thursday, Nov. 13. Films include a searing account of the historic cooperation between Israeli and Palestinian firefighters to battle a 2010 blaze that killed 44 people, and one about the experience of immigrants from Asia.
Screenings are at the JCC on the Upper West Side, Cinema Village and at NYU’s King Juan Carlos Center in the Village, the Kane Street Synagogue in Brooklyn, and at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville. Several films are being shown multiple times, so if one date or location doesn’t suit you, another will.
Individual tickets are $12, $6 for students with a valid ID. There’s also a final night screening about an Israeli-Arab candy entrepeneur that includes a dessert reception after the movie, at $18.
See Other Israel Film Festival website for the full schedule and descriptions of each film.
