Two Hurricane Sandy benefit dance parties — one in New York City, one in New Orleans — are linked live in real time this Friday, via Skype and big screen TVs. The Big Apple and the Big Easy have always shared a love of good music, good food and good times. Now, of course, NYC and NOLA share hurricane survival and recovery.
The NYC dance party features live music by Rosie Ledet & the Zydeco Playboys. The NOLA dance is the annual Bye-Bye Hurricane Season dance party. Both are raising money for the The Siller Tunnel to Towers Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, which is helping rebuild houses in NYC devastated by Hurricane Sandy, as Tunnel to Towers Foundation did in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The foundation and the Sandy relief fund were both started by the brother of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who ran into Manhattan through the tunnel wearing all his gear on on 9/11, only to loose his life that day helping rescue others.
So here are the details — Both events are Friday, November 30th. The NYC event is sponsored by Let’s Zydeco, at Connolly’s in the Theater District. Admission is $25. The New Orleans event is sponsored by Evacuteer. If you are in New Orleans or want to invite your NOLA friends to that party — here is their info …… http://nolabyebye.eventbrite.com
