Honoring your relatives, especially elders, is a tradition in many cultures. Learn about the Native American tradition, including designing your own FREE canvas tote bag, at the National Museum of the American Indian in Lower Manhattan.
There are free family-friendly workshops tomorrow, Thursday, August 18th, and again next Thursday, August 25th.
Learn + Make: Honoring a Relative includes exploring the exhibition, Unbound: Narrative Art of the Plains and the crafts project, which begins at the start of every hour between 2pm and 5pm.
The class is free, museum admission also is FREE. Registration is required to ensure space. Recommended ages 7 and up.
For groups larger than 10, registration is required via email at NMAINYEducation@si.edu or phone 212-514-3705.
Uuse the canvas tote yourself as a re-usable bag, and cut down on the amount of plastic you bring hope from shopping.
Or, kids can give the bag to Grammie for her next birthday, or as a gift for Grandparents Day next month, and honor a relative with a handmade gift
National Museum of the American Indian is at One Bowling Green
