Aw shucks, it’s the 11th Annual Grand Central Oyster Frenzy, celebrating the celebrated bivalve at the celebrated Grand Central Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal. In addition to the chance to sample 16 different kinds of oysters, including celebrated Long Island Bluepoint oysters, there are oyster shucking contests and demos by some of NYC’s celebrated top chefs. It’s all happening on Saturday, Sept. 28, noon to 5 p.m. on GCT’s lower level, hosted by The Oyster Bar’s executive chef Sandy Ingber (a.k.a. Bishop of Bivalves) and general manager Kevin Faerkin.
The event is presented by Blue Island Oyster Farms. Professional shuckers including six-time champion Luis Iglesius; Chef demonstrations and tastings headlined by Ben Pollinger, executive chef, Oceana, noted chef Rob McCue, and Matt Asen.
