It’s the largest gathering of vintage VW Beetles, dune buggies and microbus models in New York City. The NYC Volkswagen Traffic Jam is Sunday at Governors Island, it’s FREE to attend, and attendees get to vote on best of show.
With great views of the NYC skyline behind a vibrant line-up of nearly 100 Beetles, buses, dune buggies, Things, and other original VW’s circa 1950’s – 1970’s, this is a one-of-a-kind car show whether you are a classic VW enthusiast or just have fond memories of a VW in your life. Don’t forget your camera.
The NYC Volkswagen Traffic Jam is 10 AM to 6 PM, and it’s FREE, as is the Governors Island Ferry from Lower Manhattan and from Brooklyn.
What’s your VW story?
Mine is traveling through Europe and then across North Africa in a microbus like the one pictured here, whch VW called a vanwagon. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip shortly after college. Click here to read about my adventure, which included a visit to Wheelus U.S. Air Force base in Tripoli, Libya.
Also read my article on the five auto manufacturer museums in Germany, including Volkswagen, published on Fodors.com. I’ve visited them all. In alphabetical order, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and VW
