Giving Tuesday: Where to Give in NYC

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

It’s been a tough year, and the holidays are tougher than ever for more New Yorkers than ever.

Giving Tuesday is Dec. 1. This is your chance to help feed and clothe the hungry, and support NYC parks and theater, including charities and community groups where your donation will be matched, even doubled or quadrupled by corporate or philanthropic donors.

And charitable gifts are tax decuctible.

Nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers were experiencing food insecurity before Covid-19, including one in five NYC children.

where to donate to nyc charitiesCitiCard

Use your Citi® credit card when you shop online now through December 31 and Citi will donate $0.10 each time to No Kid Hungry, up to $1 million.

Thanks to No Kid Hungry’s work to help launch and improve innovative programs, just one dollar can provide a child with up to three healthy meals a day.

On #Giving Tuesday, Citi is matching donations to No Kid Hungry, up to $200,000.

Bowery Mission

It’s one of the oldest such organizations in New York City – operating since the 1870s, when this part of NYC was called “Skid Row”.

Every service is an invitation to residential and community programs that help clients make progress towards individual goals such as regaining sobriety, reconnecting with family and faith, and preparing for work and independent living. Bowery Mission also has year-round programs to empower children to thrive and succeed.

Citymeals

On #GivingTuesday, your donation is a Triple Match, so every dollar becomes $3.

You can also support Citymeals by purchasing their Holiday Cards, designed by local artists.

God’s Love We Deliver

This group delivers medically-tailored meals to those who cannot shop or cook for themselves.

City Harvest

On #GivingTuesday, your donation is matched.

This group rescues unused perishable food from restaurants and unsold perishable food from supermarkets.  A $36 donation rescues and delivers 100 pounds of food to NYC food pantries.

#GivingTuesdayCentral Park

Help keep your backyard beautiful with a gift to the Central Park Conservancy. For a limited time, we are matching every gift 4X.  So a $50 donation becomes a $100 donation, and so on.

Plus, you’ll receive a FREE face mask with every donation of $25 or more.

Remember, when the whole world shut down, Central Park stayed open.
