Wednesday, May 29th is the 60th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt. Everest, and to celebrate, there’s a FREE rock climbing event in Herald Square. The event is sponsored by Post Grape-Nuts, which Sir Edmund Hillary snacked on during the climb to the top of the world with Sherpa guide Tenzing Norquay. Grape-Nuts is setting up a 30-foot climbing wall, so you can make like a mountain climber, including posting your own summit flag on top. There also are free samples of Post Grape-Nuts Fit Cranberry Vanilla cereal to climbers and to those who just want to watch the climbers. The event is 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Herald Square, 34th St. between Sixth Avenue and Broadway.
