Free recycling for electronics, e-waste

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter
Broadway Hackathon 2016Tossing your unwanted electronics in the trash is a waste. Recycle your gear for FREE and get paid for it, too. You’ll be saving NYC landfills from harmful pollution from toxic elements, allowing valuable elements to be re-used, and getting a gift card in the bargain.
The next FREE e-waste recycling event in New York City is Saturday, April 30 in Chelsea.
Top technology store Tekserve has partnered with  the Lower East Side Ecology Center (Ecology Center) to help you dispose of your old phones, tablets, laptops and other gear in a safe and legal way.
Just bring your old gear to the Tekserve retail store, at 119 W. 23rd St., between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, between 10am and 4pm, and walk away with a good feeling and a discount coupon for a new Apple device, accessory or in-store service.
At the e-waste event, Tekserve will offer coupons featuring $10 off a $50 purchase or service at Tekserve or $20 off a $100 purchase or service to those participating in the e-waste event. Also, you  can get an additional $5 off  purchases if you show you have checked in at Tekserve on Facebook or Yelp.
Note that the e-scrap recycling drive is open to all unwanted electronics, Mac or PC purchased anywhere.  Not accepted for recycling are household appliances such as microwaves or air conditioners.
Click here for more information about the April 30 event and about additional 2016 e-scrap events which serve all five New York City boroughs

Think it best if offered cash rather than $ off other items. if cash is offered you may get more participants with more items for recycling.

That’s a great idea! I will share it with the event organizers – Lower East Side Ecology Center and Tekserve, and so should you.
