Even if you are not a car geek or a Mustang fanatic, you’ll enjoy A Faster Horse, the story of one of the world’s most iconic and recognizable cars. See it FREE, at the Tribeca Film Festival outdoor Drive-In theater, tonite, Saturday April 18th, at its world premiere.
A Faster Horse follows the team creating the 50th anniversary model of the Mustang, the all-new redesigned 2015 Ford Mustang, with unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the design and engineering process, and interviews with the original 1965 design and engineering team, now retired.
There are vintage film clips, including part of that memorable car chase in the Steve McQueen movie Bullitt, Mustangs on the racetrack, vintage Mustang TV commercials, historic footage of Henry Ford and Henry Ford II, and incredible assembly line footage.
A Faster Horse also celebrates with members of Ford Mustang clubs who drove their cars to Charlotte International Raceway last year for Mustang’s 50th birthday party and launch of the redesigned model. It was the largest collection of Ford Mustang cars in history.
Really, this film tells the story of our love affair with the open road, through the story of this important muscle car, one of the best-selling models in history.
NYC on the Cheap editor Evelyn Kanter previewed A Faster Horse yesterday. Obviously, I loved it.
The FREE screening is at 8pm, and there’s no reserved seating. Go early for food, car trivia contests and more. The Tribeca Drive-in is on the plaza of Arts Brookfield in what used to be called the World Financial Center.

BTW – the film got its name from Henry Ford, who asked farmers plowing their fields with horses what they wanted. They told him it was a faster horse.
