Global Partners Junior is an online exchange program that connects New York City kids, ages 9-12, with their peers around the world.
This summer, students at 12 locations of The New York Public Library can compare notes with kids in cities including Melbourne, Mumbai, Rio de Janiero and Sydney. The international meeting of the young minds will discuss and learn about improving the environment in their communities, and more.
All participants worldwide study the same curriculum, called Living Cities, and will collaborate on multi-media presentations and virtual tours of their cities. Your kids are on the computer anyway this summer, so it may as well be a supervised and productive program. And it’s FREE, although registration is required.
There are programs in Manhattan, Bronx and Staten Island branches of the NYPL, including Inwood, Parkchester and Richmondtown.
Ask your local librarian for a sign-up sheet, or click here. The sessions are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through August 16th. Dates and times at each participating NYPL location:
