Yes, my friends, you can escape the Halloween hoopla this weekend with these FREE events and activities in NYC.
Macbeth — The NYU student group Shakespeare in the Square is performing the Shakespeare classic in Washington Square Park, at 2 PM and again at 5 PM. Sex and intrigue, murder and ghosts. Bring your own seating.
Amsterdam Avenue Festival — this street fair for sure will have pumpkins and other goblins decorating the vendor stalls, but there will be plenty of food and fun that has nothing to do with costumes and candy corn. Saturday, 76th to 86th Streets, 11 AM to 6 PM.
More Shakespeare — The Tragedy of King Lear is being presented, FREE, by the group Instant Shakespeare, at the Jefferson Market Branch of the New York Public Library, 425 Sixth Avenue in the Village, at 1:30 PM
And Yet More Shakespeare — The group Instant Shakespeare also is performing The Life of King Henry the Fifth at the St. Agnes Branch of the New York Public Library, 444 Amsterdam Ave. at 81st Street, at 1 PM.
