Again this year, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend 2012, active duty U.S. military and their families receive free admission to more than 1,600 museums throughout the United States, through a program called Blue Star Museums.
It is a joint effort of Blue Star Families, a national, non-profit network of military families from all ranks and services including guard and reserve, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Participating museums include children’s museums, art museums and history museums.
In New York City, the list includes:
- Brooklyn Museum,
- Brooklyn Children’s Museum,
- El Museo del Barrio,
- Jewish Museum,
- Jacques Marais Museum of Tibetan Art in Staten Island,
- NYC Transit Museum, Museum of Modern Art, and more.
