Each year on Martin Lurter King Jr. Day, the JCC presents the powerful work of artists whose vision elevate King’s voice for justice, peace and civil rights in a FREE concert. This year, performers include native New Yorker Catherine Russell and her band, Civil Rights in Song. Russell has toured the world, performing and recording with top musical stars David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Jackson Browne, Michael Feinstein, and Rosanne Cash. Other performers showcase Hebrew, Yiddish, Yemenite, and African-American songs.
The concert is at 6:30 PM Monday, January 21, at Symphony Space, Broadway and 95th Street. Doors open at 6 PM. There is no advance registration, and seating is limited. Additional concert details on the JCC Manhattan website.
Your friends and neighbors on the Upper West Side ask you to remember them and not block the sidewalk or entrances to the businesses next to Symphony Space.
