The gay rights movement started 45 years ago in Greenwich Village, at what is now known as the Stonewall. While it wasn’t the first LGBT protest, it was the one with the longest and largest impact – in NYC, the USA, and even worldwide.
To mark the 45th anniversary of the 1969 uprising, Stonewall has mounted a special exhibition, Stonewall 45, tells the history of the 1969 uprising and the subsequent political response. Posters and other memorabilia are displayed in shop windows along Christopher Street, between Greenwich Street and Greenwich Avenue, from June 19th to June 29th.

Stonewall 45 is part of the NYC Pride 2014 festival.
