Looking for a job? Get tips from people who actually do the hiring at this NYPL program for LGBT and other job seekers over 40. You’ll gain insight on a range of job-hunting skills, from what to put in your resume to what to wear to the job interview. And not.
This is a panel discussion with four hiring managers and HR staff in non-profit and corporate sectors as to what they are looking for in the ideal candidate:
- Derrick Brown, Diversity Recruiter, Deutsche Bank USA Morgan McGowan, VP of Commercial Real Estate Finance, TD Bank
- Dylan DeYoung, Manager of Training and Operations, FPC Doreen Bermudez, SAGEDay Program Manager, SAGE
- Tiany White, Bronx Program Coordinator, Dress for Success Gregory Grinley, Director of SAGE Centers, SAGE
- Andrea Goldman, Senior Human Resource Director, Institute for Career Development
The job skills panel is 1:30 pm Friday, March 20 at the NYPL Branch known as SIBL, at 34th St. and Fifth Avenue.
Although admission is FREE, you should register to ensure space. RSVP to zramos@sageusa.org today.
In case you have forgotten – or never knew – in its previous life, the SIBL branch of the NY Public Library was the home of the upscale NYC department store B. Altman, one of many NYC department stores and large retailer which have disappeared over the years.
Anybody else remember Korvettes, Stern’s, Best & Co., Bonwit Teller, Franklin Simon, Saks 34th St, Orbach’s or Alexander’s? Click here for a round-up of vanishing New York stores, which I wrote after Daffy’s and Sym’s went out of business a couple of years ago.
