Movies on the cheap: The Film Forum Double Feature Festival returns, with two flicks a day for just $14. These are no ordinary films. These are classics. Hitchcock, Brando, Bogart, Chaplin, Orson Welles, Cary Grant, Jean Paul Belmondo, Rita Hayworth, even Pee Wee Herman.
The schedule includes thrillers, madcap comedies, foreign classics, and a couple of the best Hollywood musicals ever made, including Singing’ in the Rain, with that memorable scene of Gene Kelly dancing in the rain with an umbrella, and and one of the scariest, Psycho, with that memorable scene of Janet Leigh in the shower.
A double feature of Brando in On the Waterfront and The Wild One. It doesn’t get much better than that.
A double feature of Hiroshima Mon Amour and Last Year at Marienbad. It doesn’t get much better than that.
A double feature of Double Indemnity and Mildred Pierce. It doesn’t get much better than that.
And those are just three of the double feature days.

The Film Forum Double Feature Festival is Friday, August 19 to Tuesday, September 13, with a different double-bill each day.
Back when I was a kid, double features were the norm. Today, it’s something special.
See you at the movies!
