Eastern Mountain Sports has declared bankruptcy, but it’s not clear if the current end-of-season clearance sale is the end. Eastern Outfitters, parent of both EMS and discounter Bob’s Stores, is just the latest brick-and-mortar retailer to ask for court protection amid pressure from online sales.
EMS closed its last NYC store, in Soho, last year. There are still locations on Long Island and nationwide, and you can shop up to 70% off online.
