Sustainable Building Challenge is a family workshop at the Skyscraper Museum in Lower Manhattan. After a tour of our current exhibit, WOHA: Garden City, Mega City, kids will be challenged to use everyday materials that can be found outside such as, grass, flowers, sticks, rocks to see how they can be incorporated into their very own skyscraper. After construction, the projects will be displayed and reviewed to see who built the most sustainable skyscraper.Ages 6+. RSVP required. 10:30am to 11:45. Museum website.
Earth Day Expo at Habana Outpost celebrates both Earth Day and the season’s re-opening of the outdoor garden. Enjoy fresh smoothies made with a human-powered bike blender, vegan face-painting, tips on using solar energy, electronics recycling and more. Seeds of Time at the Bronx Botanical Garden celebrates Earth Day with the screening of the documentary “Seeds of Time” and a discussion with the film’s star, agriculture pioneer Cary Fowler, and its director, Sandy McLeod. There also are guided tours of the garden and a composting workshop. 10am to 6pm.
