Every spring, street fairs bloom along with the flowers and trees. One of the biggest and best is the annual Crafts on Columbus, on Columbus Avenue between 77th and 81st Streets, along the back side of the American Museum of Natural History.
This is a curated show the work by local artists, offering one-of-a-kind blown glass, ceramics, photography, multi-media artworks, hand-made toys clothing for children, and other collectibles, not the kittschy and junky stuff found at many street fairs.
Save the date for three weekends of Crafts on Columbus, with more than 100 professional artist vendors each weekend for three weekends beginning next weekend – April 30/May 1, May 7/8 and May 14/15.
Show hours are 10am to 6pm both on Saturday and on Sunday, rain or shine, so let’s hope for shine.
Make a day of it — spend some time at AMNH, where the newest celebrity is the Titanosaur, the world’s largest dinosaur. Or, visit the New York Historical Society, on Central Park West and 77th Street, and the arts and crafts fair.
