Congratulations to the NYC on the Cheap followers who were the first 50 to sign up for the FREE tickets we offered last week to a preview of the eagerly-awaited Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. And thanks again to the producers and promoters of Anchorman 2, for giving NYCOTC this free ticket promotion.
The legendary Ron Burgundy and his bumbling buddies are back in action at this special preview showing Mon., Dec. 16, at AMC Lincoln Square, before the movie opens nationally later in the week.
Since I signed up for a preview ticket myself, let’s meet in the theater lobby, near the escalator. Look for me, Evelyn Kanter. I’ll be holding a sign with the NYCOTC logo.
FYI – in a previous life, I was an on-air reporter on Channel 7 Eyewitness News, when the anchormen were Roger Grimsby and Bill Beutel, and fellow reporters included Rosanne Scamardella, John Johnson and Bob Lape, so I can report that some of what is up there on the big screen isn’t too much of an exaggeration.
Here’s the plot, although that probably doesn’t matter as much as the sight gags and laugh lines:
With the 70’s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fontana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking the nation’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.
See you at the movies!
