Take a snow day at the annual Winter Jam in Central Park this weekend with FREE skiing, cross country skiing and snowboarding lessons, an ice slide for kids, ice sculpting and more.
Winter Jam 2019 is Saturday, January 26th, presented by NYC Parks in cooperation with Love NY, I SKI NY, Lake Placid, home of the 1980 Winter Olympics, and Belleayre Mountain ski resort in the Catskills.
It’s all happening 11am to 3pm at the Central Park Bandshell in Rumsey Field, rain or shine, so let’s hope for shine (rain/snow date is next Saturday, Feb. 2).
They’ll be slowing lots of snow, so everybody can enjoy the following activities:
- Lake Placid Snow Field
- Learn to Ski and Snowboard
- Snowshoeing by REI
- Sledding
- Arctic Golf
- Live Ice Sculpting
- Taste NY Winter Market/Warming Hut
Arctic Golf, Snowshoeing, Snowboarding and Skiing Lessons, Live Entertainment by various music groups, a Taste NY Hut & Market which is a place to sample various NY foods while warming up and also purchase food items too! There will also be food trucks on hand as well.
Note that participants in cross–country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding/skiing lessons must sign a waiver and provide photo identification before participating in any of these activities. The waivers will be provided at the event.
Participants under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian present with photo identification to sign the waiver. Waiting lines for the activities are subject to close early.
Dress warmly to play in the snow.
