Everything is 50% off or more at C. Wonder stores as the clothing, jewelry, housewares and knick knacks chain prepares to go out of business by the end of the month. NYC stores are in Flatiron, Soho and The Shops at Columbus Circle. Other locations include Southhampton and Manhasset in the Tri-State area, California and Dubai.
According to BuzzFeed, the whimsical international chain created by Tory Burch’s ex-husband Christopher Burch, has let go its NYC office staff and already shut down its Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram pages, and the company website will go dark by the end of the week.
C. Wonder was launched in 2011 by venture capitalist J. Christopher Burch, following a messy divorce from designer Tory Burch, whose brand he helped launch.C. Wonder was often compared to ex-wife Tory Burch’s more expensive namesake brand, and some fashion and retail industry tongue waggers described C. Wonder an “revenge retail.”
The company closed several stores in 2014, and Burch moved from Manhattan to Miami, and he seems to be concentrating on new business projects, which include a new line with Ellen DeGeneres and spending a lot of time in Indonesia, where he and a business partner have bought a resort called Nihiwatu on the island of Sumba.
