Bloomingdale’s is opening a three-story outlet store on the Upper West Side, joining discounters TJMaxx, Century 21 Marshall’s and DSW in a booming discount corridor on Broadway between 57th and 86th. Plus, there’s Zabar’s, Trader Joe’s and WholeFoods for foodies.
The new Bloomingdale’s The Outlet will be at 72nd St. and Broadway, when the Urban Outfitters there now moves out at the end of its lease in July. According to Commercial Observer, it will be ready for bargain hunters in time for holiday shopping.
While there are a dozen Bloomingdale outlet stores in suburban shopping malls around the USA, this will be the first city version.
The new Bloomie’s outlet store will be a few blocks away from where Loehman’s, Filene’s Basement and Daffy’s used to have locations before they went out of business.
