There are more than two miles of FREE viewing spots in Manhattan and Brooklyn for the annual Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza, which returns to the East River this year. The show starts at 9PM, but the best spots will be gone much earlier.
There will be three fireworks barges, just south of Wall St., at Fulton St., and in between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. Special this year is a 25-minute musical salute to The Star Spangled Banner, celebrating its 200th anniversary, featuring Tony-Award winning Idina Menzel.
Best viewing spots in Manhattan:
FDR Drive between Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and South Street
Brooklyn Bridge entry from St. James Place (Pearl Street) & Wagner Place (viewing both north & south of the Brooklyn Bridge).
Broad Street and/or Old Slip at Water Street (viewing between Heliport & south side of Brooklyn Bridge
