Scotty, beam me up to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum for a sleepover. Tickets are still available for final Star Trek Starfleet Academy Experience for fans of all ages, including those of us old enough to remember the original Star Trek TV series that gave birth to the popular film franchise.
Normally museum sleepovers are just for kids. So this Intrepid sleepover program is doubly unusual.
August 6th is the final of three Saturday night Star Trek sleepover events scheduled this summer. Get tickets here directly from the museum. Previous Star Trek Starfleet Academy Experience sleepovers were this past weekend and earlier in July.
It’s not exactly NYC on the cheap, since tickets are $179 per person. That means it will cost a family of four a bit over $700. But some experiences and memories are priceless.
There also are sleepovers at the American Museum of Natural History. Spend a night at the museum in August or in October.
Here’s what you get for the money:
Exclusive access to Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Experience, the Intrepid’s new immersive exhibition, and the chance to visit the Space Shuttle Pavilion after hours.
There you’ll see the shuttlecraft Galileo from the original series on display alongside the space shuttle Enterprise—the namesake of the Federation starship.
Head to the flight deck to watch classic episodes of Star Trek on the big screen, under the stars (weather permitting).
Boldly go on special guided tours, and listen to talks about space and Star Trek tech. There will also be shows in the pop-up planetarium and special Star Trek food and drinks.
All guests go home with a swag bag with Intrepid and Star Trek souvenirs.
Star Trek Overnights begin on Saturday at 6:45 pm and finish on Sunday at 8:00 am.
