The newest sports bar in New York City is Proper West, opening today just in time for the rest of the World Series games between the former New York Giants, who used to play in the Polo Grounds in Upper Manhattan before moving to San Francisco, and the team from Kansas City.
Proper West is in the Garment Center, a two-story mega-bar with a collection of big screens downstairs and a DJ pumping music upstairs. There’s also the usual sports bar menu of wings, sliders, nachos and quesadillas, and burgers. The most expensive thing on the menu is $19, and cocktails are $12.
Proper West is at 54 West 39th St, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. So far, there are no happy hour deals. Maybe after the World Series.
