Get cooling river breezes while you eat or drink aboard a historic ship anchored on the Hudson River. “Frying Pan” is listed on both the New York State and Federal Registers of Historic Places, one of thirteen lightships remaining from more than 100 built for the US Coast Guard, which used them as floating lighthouses.
These days, Frying Pan is moored on the Hudson River, as a seasonal restaurant and bar. Frying Pan is open daily, noon to 1 a.m., Pier 66A at West 26th Street, in Hudson River Park.
Lunch is served daily noon to 5 p.m., after which the prices go up, but the sunset is free. Reservations are not accepted, and it can be a long wait for a table on weekend evenings.
