The newest museum restaurant is inside new photography museum Fotografiska in a landmarked building in Flatiron.
It’s the tenth NYC restaurant by Stephen Starr, after Buddakan, Upland, Le Coucou, and others, with a menu of French, Austrian and Eastern European classics including veal schnitzel, potato pierogies with caviar, beef stroganoff, and lamb goulash.
Reasonably large for a museum restaurant, there are nearly 150 seats and an elegant Old World decor with chandeliers, leather banquettes and velvet barrel chairs, rotating photographs from the museum collection, and an airy feel from the huge windows flooding the space with light. There’s also an adjoining bar.
Verōnika is open daily at 5 p.m., until 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Fotografiska is at 218 Park Ave. at 22nd St.
