Best free apps for Hurricane Sandy insurance claims

POSTED BY

NYC on the cheap, Hurricane Sandy online shopping deals, Hurricane Sandy insurance claimsFiling for insurance claims may be the most difficult part of recovering from Hurricane Sandy damage. These FREE apps will help you document property damage to your home or car and make the insurance maze just a bit easier — and they are also useful for documenting your possessions before an emergency and an emergency insurance claim.

Insurance Claims Recorder — This  app lets you record claims interviews both in person and live phone calls, along with dictating the inventory of your losses. Although this app is designed for  insurance claims professionals, it will work for the homeowner or business owner making claims.  iTunes version only.

Home Gallery – This app from Liberty Mutual lets you snap photos as you move through your rooms or business on your smartphone or tablet, including receipts, and assign the information you choose. When you have a complete inventory of all your belongings, including their pictures and receipts, you can easily export with your email the inventory to your computer.  Android version only.

Home Inventory —  This easy-to-use app lets you create and modify an inventory by room, by categories, or by items. Take photos to associate with inventory items or choose images from a gallery provided by the app. Helpful for keeping track of your possessions or if you need to make an insurance claim, and export the inventory to your computer.  Android version only.

ContentsCalc — This app allows you to record what’s inside and outside your home and determine the approximate value of your possessions.  Although designed to help you figure out what level of insurance you need to cover your home contents before an insurance claim, it’s also helpful after an emergency to help determine how much you might receive from a claim.

Visit the NYCOTC Hurricane Sandy resource page for updated information on insurance claims, avoiding fraudulent charities, and more.

Thanks to AppNewser for the original research on these apps.
