Celebrate the art of Al Hirschfeld, one of the world’s most famous and important cartoonists, at a special FREE exhibit and free events at the New York Public Library. The exhibit, The Line King’s Library, is on display at the NYPL Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, is on display through January 4, 2014. Plus, there’s a FREE event this week for Al Hirshfeld fans –
“Hirschfeld’s Hollywood” – Thursday, November 14 at 6 PM – This illustrated talk by the exhibit curator traces Hirshfield’s nine decades of film and theater art, including his work for movie studio publicity and art departments at Goldwyn, Universal, Pathé, Selznick, Fox, First National and Warner Bros., before he became the iconic cartoonist for the New Yorker Magazine and the Broadway theater.
