Today, Broadway theater commemorates the Tenth Anniversary of September 11 with a FREE concert by Broadway show performers in Times Square. The special performance of New York, New York replaces New York City’s annual Broadway on Broadway concert. Probably the most famous version of the iconic song, originally composed by Kander and Ebb, is the one recorded by Frank Sinatra. The Broadway tribute to 9/11 is on the traffic island in the north end of Times Square, at 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Broadway League, and also helps kick off Fashion’s Night Out 2011.
