Trade in old baby gear for 25% off new

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

free baby gearTrade in old baby gear and get 25% off new purchases at the Great Trade-in Event at Babies R Us and Toys R Us nationwide. The annual event helps call attention to safety concerns with older or used products, including items that have been recalled by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

  • Recent recalls include Britax strollers and child car seats,  and Zulilly children’s pajamas for violations of the federal fire hazard code.
  • See the current list of recalls here

Swapping out used gear and buying new helps ensure that the baby products you’re using meet the latest safety standards, which change frequently.

The Great Trade-In Event is at Babies R Us and Toys R Us stores nationwide from Feb 1 through Feb. 21, in stores only. You cannot trade-in online.

If you don’t have old gear to trade in, no worries.  You will receive 15% off a new gear or furniture item with an in-store only coupon available on Babiesrus.com/GreatTradeIn

The deal

Stores will accept any used cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, high chairs, infant swings, bouncers, travel systems, walkers, entertainers and play yards, in exchange for 25% savings on the purchase of a new baby item, in any of these product categories.

No proof of purchase necessary

You do not need a receipt or to have originally purchased the item you’re trading in from Babies R Us or Toys R Us. That means that if somebody gives you a hand-me-down crib or car seat, or you purchased one on Craigslist or eBay, it’s perfectly legit to trade it in at Babies R Us for a new one for a 25% savings.

You’ll need one coupon per trade-in to score the savings though. Coupons are available in the store on the day of your trade-in. Don’t have anything to trade in? No problem. During the Great Trade-In Event, all baby gear as well as toddler and twin beds are 15% off.

The catch?

Many top baby gear manufacturers, such as Combi, Chicco, Bob and Baby Trend, are participating in the Great Trade-In Event. But many aren’t.

The program excludes Maxi-Cosi car seats, doorway jumpers, Baby Jogger, Bugaboo, Mamas & Papas, Peg Perego, Phil & Teds, Quinny and Red Hot Deal and Hot Price items.

Stay tuned

If you miss the Great Trade-in event this time around, no worries. The program usually is held more than once a year. Learn about the next Great Trade-in by signing up for email alerts at babiesrus.com.

Bonus

When you sign up for email alerts, you’ll also get notices of Babies R Us’ fabulous and frequent cyber sales, which can net you discounts of 20% and more on everything from diapers to furniture.
