They include new vegan schwarma at NYC-based The Hummus & Pita Co., cheap cheeseburgers at Applebee’s and Red Robin on National Cheeseburger Day, toasted cheese chalupas at Taco Bell, new pit-smoked brisket sandwiches and others featuring Beyond Meat plant-based non-meat choices at Subway, and mac & cheese bowls $5 meal deals at KFC.
Prices and participation can vary, especially at high-rent locations in and around Times Square, where Red Lobster is not even participating in the nationwide CrabFest deal.

For one day only, on Wednesday, September 18, Applebee’s restaurants nationwide celebrate National Cheeseburger Day by offering the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger and fries for only $6.99.
Applebee’s Classic Bacon Cheeseburger is made with your choice of two cheese slices (American, Cheddar, Swiss, or Pepper Jack), two strips of Applewood-smoked bacon and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, all packaged up on a Brioche bun.
As with all Handcrafted Burgers, each Classic Bacon Cheeseburger is made to order, with 100% fresh, never-frozen ground beef, and smashed on the grill to seal in the deliciousness.
Note that Applebee’s locations are individual franchises.
Not all participate in national deals, including the Applebee’s in Times Square. So check with your location of choice before you go.

Red Robin’s Gourmet Cheeseburger is known as the burger that made the casual dining restaurant chain famous. It features a fresh, never frozen beef patty fire-grilled to juicy perfection and topped with Red’s pickle relish, red onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and choice of cheese.
NYC-based mini-chain The Hummus & Pita Co., is introducing what it claims the world’s to the first vegan shawarma.
Starting Sept. 16, it is the As the latest addition to the concept’s fresh, made-from-scratch menu at its New York, New Jersey and Connecticut restaurants, and rolling out to all franchise and corporate locations within the month.
The brand currently operates seven locations throughout New York City, Connecticut, Colorado, New Jersey and Michigan, with additional units in development in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Montgomery, Alabama.
The Hummus & Pita Co. is part of Fransmart, a company which helps develop franchises. Fransmart fast food companies include Five Guys Burgers and Fries, The Halal Guys and QDOBA Mexican Grill.
Starting Sept. 12, Taco Bell is adding the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa to the menu nationwide.
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa bakes real, aged cheddar cheese directly into the shell, the latest chalupa innovation. Since the classic Chalupa was first introduced in 1999, Taco Bell has creates new chalupa experiences, including the Baja Chalupa in 2000, size innovation with the 2017 launch of the Double Chalupa, and protein-packed Naked Chicken Chalupa.
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa also is available internationally – for a limited time – in Aruba, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama and Puerto Rico, because, after all, the love of cheese is definitely universal.
Like the classic chalupa, the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa is filled with the option of seasoned beef, chicken or steak, then piled with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheddar cheese, and reduced-fat sour cream, starting at just $2.49.
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa will also be available in a $5 Box, paired with two Crunchy Tacos and a medium soda. What takes the chalupa to foodie-worthy status is all on the outside of the shell. Taco Bell has taken 6-month aged sharp cheddar cheese and toasted it onto the iconic chalupa shell to create a crispy blanket of flavor and texture, unlocking a whole new cheese experience.
