Every election is important, and this year is more important than most, Today, Friday Oct. 12, is the last day to register to be able to vote in November.
If you don’t vote, you don’t have the right to complain about who wins.
In NYC and New York State we are voting for the next Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney-General and most of the Assembly. Nationwide, we are voting for each and every one of the House seats in the US Congress.

How to get an absentee ballot
Anyone who is registered to vote is entitled to receive an absentee ballot, even if you are in town but for medical or other reasons prefer to vote by mail instead of in person.
Getting an absentee ballot is easier than you think. I voted with an absentee ballot for a recent election, since I would be out of town.
Getting an absentee ballot took a few minutes on the phone to request one from the NYC Board of Elections, a couple of days to wait for the form to arrive in my mailbox, and a couple of minutes to fill out and put back in the mail – in the postage paid envelope provided.
You can choose to have the actual absentee ballot be mailed to you, or to pick it up in person at the Board of Elections office in your home borough.

If you do not vote, you do not have the right to complain about who is elected.
Also check Vote411, the website of the League of Women Voters, for information about absentee ballots and voting rights and requirements in the rest of New York State, and in the other 49 states of this great United States of America.
