Once again, NYC on the Cheap is delighted to give away tickets to a movie preview screening with an all-star cast.
This time, it’s CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? about a historic and headline-making scam, with Melissa McCarthy as the scammer. It’s part drama, part comedy, set in New York City.
The preview is Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7pm at a theater in Manhattan, two days before it opens nationwide.
NYC on the Cheap is giving away 35 admit-two passes to the first 35 followers who request them.
Cast: Melissa McCarthy, Richard E. Grant, Dolly Wells, Jane Curtin, Ben Falcone, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Spinella
Director: Marielle Heller
Synopsis: CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?, Melissa McCarthy stars as Lee Israel, the best-selling celebrity biographer (and cat lover) who made her living in the 1970’s and 80’s profiling the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, Estée Lauder and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen. When Lee found herself unable to get published because she had fallen out of step with the marketplace, she turned her art form to fraud and deception, assisted by her loyal friend Jack (Richard E. Grant).
More: The film is based on Israel’s own memoir, Can You Ever Forgive Me?: Memoirs of a Literary Forger, published by Simon and Schuster. The Brooklyn-born writer died in 2008.
These FREE passes are first come, first serve.
When all 35 admit-two sign-ups have been claimed, the sign-up link for the actual passes will stop working.
Please do not sign up if you cannot attend, since you will be depriving two other NYCOTC followers from enjoying this film.
